Akhtamar APG was formed by a small group of dance enthusiasts wishing to promote Armenian arts and culture to the wider community. 

The group has grown to include a children's and an adults' group and has had many successful performances all over the UK in numerous cultural events and dance festivals such as the Coin Street Festival at the South Bank, Dance Around the World, the Eastbourne Folk Dance Festival, and the Milton Keynes International Dance Festival.

Akhtamar owes much of its success to its Artistic Director Arsen Zakaryan and his wife Karine, who have persevered in their efforts to enrich the group's repertoire with folk, classical and modern Armenian dances.
